New Delhi, June 5: Following a recent hotel fire incident in Delhi, the administration in Uttar Pradesh‘s Mirzapur and Muzaffarnagar districts has heightened its vigilance. To prevent potential fire hazards, a special inspection campaign has been launched in hotels, guest houses, and commercial establishments by the administration in collaboration with the fire department.
Led by fire safety officials, the team conducted surprise inspections at major hotels in the area, with the city magistrate also present. The officials meticulously examined fire alarm systems, firefighting equipment, emergency exits, electrical systems, and evacuation arrangements.
The team assessed how effectively hotel management and staff could respond in emergencies and whether they had adequate resources and training. Many staff members received fire safety guidelines during the inspections.
The city magistrate issued a stern warning that no hotel, guest house, or commercial establishment in the district would be allowed to overlook fire safety regulations. Strict action will be taken against any institution found lacking in safety standards.
Saurabh Kumar Singh, the chief fire officer of Mirzapur, stated, “Due to the presence of the Vindhyanchal Mata Temple, there is always a large influx of devotees and tourists. Therefore, we have initiated a special inspection campaign in collaboration with the administration. This campaign is ongoing, and strict action will be taken wherever fire safety is not being adhered to.”
Anurag Singh, the fire officer in Muzaffarnagar, emphasized that this campaign is not merely a formal inspection but a serious step towards ensuring the safety of lives and property. He mentioned that inspections would continue in various establishments in both urban and rural areas. Compliance with safety standards is mandatory for all.
He added that following the devastating fire incident in Delhi, the Uttar Pradesh administration is unwilling to take any risks. Safety measures are being reviewed in both districts, with a particular focus on fire norms, building safety, and staff training to prevent any major accidents in the future.
The administration has urged all hotel and guest house owners to conduct their own fire safety audits and avoid any negligence. Notices are being issued for violations found during the campaign, with warnings of license suspension or cancellation for those found guilty.
