Noida, April 28: The labor department in Gautam Buddh Nagar has adopted a stringent approach to protect workers’ rights and maintain industrial peace. Additional Labor Commissioner Rakesh Dwivedi announced that inspections and enforcement actions are ongoing to ensure compliance with labor laws in the district.
He revealed that various irregularities were found among contractors operating in different industrial establishments regarding adherence to labor laws. Consequently, the department issued show-cause notices to the relevant contractors. However, those who failed to respond faced strict action, resulting in the revocation of licenses for 14 contractors.
According to the Additional Labor Commissioner, a total of 49 contractors have had their licenses revoked so far. Proposals have also been sent to the Labor Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh to blacklist all these contractors. This action targets those who consistently disregard labor laws and neglect workers’ interests. Additionally, the department issued show-cause notices to six more contractors today.
The department clarified that if these contractors do not provide satisfactory responses, strict actions will also be taken against them. During this period, the labor department has issued important directives to principal employers and factory managers. According to these directives, wages for workers employed under revoked contractors must be paid directly into their bank accounts. Furthermore, the paid amounts will be adjusted against the respective contractor’s bills.
The department emphasized that timely payment of wages is a legal responsibility of the principal employers and factory managers. Additional Labor Commissioner Rakesh Dwivedi stated that such actions will continue to ensure industrial peace and protect workers’ rights in the district.
He also mentioned that strict measures will be taken against contractors involved in any illegal activities. To facilitate workers and entrepreneurs, the department has set up a complaint registration system. Any worker or entrepreneur can register their complaints at the telephone number 0120-4126892.
