Upendra Kushwaha Criticizes Rabri Devis Government Residence Controversy

Patna, May 31: The ongoing dispute regarding the government residence of senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rabri Devi has once again come into the spotlight. Upendra Kushwaha, a member of the Rajya Sabha and leader of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha, has expressed strong reactions over the refusal to vacate the government bungalow located at 10 Circular Road in Patna.

He stated that in a democratic system, everyone must adhere to the laws and regulations set by the government, and any form of coercion or disregard for rules is unacceptable.

In a media interaction, Kushwaha emphasized that discussions regarding this matter should be conducted in a lawful and constitutional manner. He criticized the use of language such as “we will not do it” and statements implying force as inappropriate.

Kushwaha indirectly targeted the RJD leadership, suggesting that such reactions could be expected from individuals with a questionable political character. However, he also mentioned that there is no place for such politics today, and everyone should respect democratic institutions and government decisions.

He clarified that the government operates according to established rules and procedures, and therefore, any individual or political party should respect and comply with government decisions.

During the discussion, Kushwaha also condemned an attack on Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, asserting that violence has no place in democracy. He stated that attacks on any individual, whether from the ruling party or the opposition, cannot be justified.

He added that if someone disagrees with a leader or party’s policies, there are democratic and constitutional platforms available to express those views. Incidents of violence or attacks are against democratic values.

Regarding allegations made by TMC leader and former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee against the Bharatiya Janata Party, Kushwaha responded that Banerjee appears to be agitated following her recent electoral defeat, which is why she continues to accuse the BJP.

He claimed that her frustration over electoral loss is leading her to make statements disconnected from reality. Kushwaha asserted that opposition parties resort to such accusations to mask their political failures.

Additionally, he shared his views on emerging political equations in Bihar and the possibility of Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraj Party, contesting elections. On discussions about Kishor entering the fray for the upcoming by-election in the Bankipur assembly constituency, he stated that every political party and leader has the right to contest elections. No one should be excluded from the electoral process. Ultimately, it is the public that decides whom to support. However, Kushwaha expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will not face any significant challenges from other political parties.
