Kolkata, September 1: Abhipray Biswas from West Bengal has been selected for India’s Under-19 cricket team. On Monday, the wicketkeeper-batsman arrived at Eden Gardens Stadium with his mother, where Sourav Ganguly, president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), extended his best wishes. Ganguly also presented him with two cricket bats on behalf of the CAB. CAB Secretary Bablu Kolay, Vice President Nitish Ranjan Dutta, and Treasurer Sanjay Das were also present during the event.
During the occasion, Sourav Ganguly advised Abhipray to play with courage for the Under-19 team and encouraged him to aim for a place in both Bengal and India’s senior teams.
One Day Internationals (ODIs) will be held in Rajkot on September 18, 21, and 23. This will be followed by two red-ball multi-day matches, scheduled for September 27-30 in Rajkot and October 5-8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium’s ‘B’ ground in Ahmedabad.
Aryaveer Sehwag, son of former opener Virender Sehwag, and Anvay Dravid, son of former captain and head coach Rahul Dravid, have also been included in the Under-19 team for the three-match ODI series against Australia.
The 50-over team will be captained by Uttarakhand’s batsman Lakshya Raichandani, with Madhya Pradesh’s Yashvardhan Chauhan serving as vice-captain. For the red-ball series, Chauhan will take on the captaincy, while Raichandani will be the vice-captain.
India’s Under-19 team for the ODI series includes: Lakshya Raichandani (captain), Yashvardhan Chauhan (vice-captain), Rajat Baghel (wicketkeeper), Aryaveer Sehwag, VK Vinit, Kushagra Ojha, Arjun Rajput, Manal Chauhan, Anvay Dravid (wicketkeeper), V. Yashveer, Rohit Yadav, Shavin Vinod, Mohit Ulwa, Chigurupati Venkata, and Kavya Patel.
For the multi-day matches, the Under-19 team consists of: Yashvardhan Chauhan (captain), Lakshya Raichandani (vice-captain), Sagar Virk, Kushagra Ojha, Manal Chauhan, Kush Patel, Manav Krishna (wicketkeeper), Abhipray Biswas (wicketkeeper), Rohit Yadav, Ishan Om, Ayan Akram, Pranav Raghavendra, Priyanshu Singh, Mohit Ulwa, and Aryan Yadav.
