Dubai, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian women’s cricket team delivered an impressive performance on September 5, 2026, defeating Pakistan by seven wickets in the Women’s Asia Cup held in Dubai. Shree Charni played a pivotal role in this victory, taking three wickets for just seven runs.
For her outstanding contribution, Charni was awarded the “Player of the Match.” After the game, she expressed her joy, saying, “It feels great to contribute to the team. I aimed to bowl according to my strengths and fielding. I try to spin the ball more, which helps. I see it as just another day, but it’s special. I need to keep contributing more for my country and maintain my good performance.”
Charni’s four-over spell dismantled Pakistan’s top order. She claimed her first wicket by dismissing Shawal Zulfiqar, who was the highest scorer for Pakistan with 14 runs. Charni then sent Gul Firoza back to the pavilion without scoring.
She also took the wicket of Ayesha Zafar for just two runs. Charni received excellent support from Prema Rawat, who also took three wickets while conceding only nine runs in her four overs. Additionally, Deepti Sharma contributed with two wickets for five runs. Together, this trio overwhelmed the Pakistani batting lineup, leading to an all-out total of just 55 runs.
Chasing a target of 56 runs, the Indian team reached their goal in just 8.4 overs, losing three wickets in the process. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 18 runs, while Deepti Sharma remained not out at 12. However, Smriti Mandhana (9 runs), Shefali Verma (12 runs), and Pratika Rawal (4 runs) could not make significant contributions. India secured the victory with 68 balls remaining, marking their fourth-largest win in T20 International history in terms of balls left.
