Dubai, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian women’s cricket team delivered a remarkable performance in the Women’s Asia Cup on September 5, defeating Pakistan by seven wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Batting first, Pakistan crumbled to a mere 55 runs, setting a new record for the lowest score in T20 International cricket.
This dismal total surpasses their previous low of 56 runs, achieved against New Zealand in 2024. The Indian spin bowlers dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup with precision, leaving them in tatters.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat, but their innings got off to a shaky start. Openers Muniba Ali and Shawal Zulfiqar managed to score 27 runs for the first wicket before Muniba was dismissed for 13 runs, followed by Zulfiqar, who made 14.
The situation quickly deteriorated for Pakistan. Gul Firoza went out without scoring, while Ayesha Zafar managed just 2 runs. Sadaf Shamas fell for 3 runs, and captain Fatima Sana failed to score as well, falling victim to Deepti Sharma.
The middle order fared no better, with Aiman Fatima scoring 5 runs and Umm-e-Hani adding 6. Tooba Hasan departed after scoring 9 runs. In total, nine Pakistani batswomen failed to reach double digits, leading to their collapse at 55 runs.
India’s bowlers showcased outstanding skills, with Shree Charani taking three wickets for just 7 runs in four overs. Prema Rawat also impressed, claiming three wickets while conceding only 9 runs. Deepti Sharma contributed with two wickets for just 5 runs, and Shefali Verma added one more.
Chasing a target of 56 runs, India reached the total in just 8.4 overs, losing three wickets along the way. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur remained unbeaten at 18 runs, while Deepti Sharma supported her with a score of 12 runs.
