Dubai, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : In a landmark moment for women’s cricket, Harmanpreet Kaur has become the first female captain to lead a team in 150 T20 internationals. This achievement came during the ninth match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026, where India faced off against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan’s captain, Fatima Sana, won the toss and opted to bat first.
Under Kaur’s leadership, the Indian team has already secured a spot in the semifinals. The tournament began with a decisive victory against Thailand, followed by a commanding win over Hong Kong by 137 runs. For the match against Pakistan, Kaur retained the same playing eleven that had proven successful in previous games.
Historically, India has dominated the T20 format against Pakistan, winning 14 out of the 17 matches played between the two teams. However, Kaur’s personal performance in this tournament has not been stellar thus far. She scored just 5 runs against Thailand and 10 runs against Hong Kong.
