U.S. Vice President Claims America is in a Strong Position for Talks with Iran

Washington, June 9: The long-standing negotiations between the United States and Iran have yet to yield a resolution. While U.S. officials assert that an agreement is nearing its final stages, Iran maintains that discussions are still ongoing. In this context, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance informed American media that the U.S. is well-positioned to achieve President Trump’s objectives through dialogue with Iran.

Vice President Vance stated, “The people of Iran do not want this war to continue. It is not in their interest, and I believe they are coming to the negotiating table with some genuine proposals, which we will certainly verify.”

He further added, “If we reach this deal, it will be a significant victory for the American people.”

Additionally, President Donald Trump confirmed on Monday the crash of a U.S. Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. He reassured the media that the pilot is safe.

“The pilot is fine. We will release a report tomorrow, but the pilot is okay,” he said.

On the same day, U.S. forces disabled an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman. The U.S. alleges that the vessel was violating maritime sanctions and blockades against Iran, heading towards an Iranian port despite U.S. military directives. American forces acted to incapacitate the ship’s operational capabilities.

This action is the latest step in the blockade initiated by the U.S. on April 13. According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the Palauan-flagged tanker MT Marivex malfunctioned while entering international waters in the Gulf of Oman, heading towards Iran.

At the time of the incident, the vessel was empty. It failed to comply with U.S. military instructions. An F/A-18 Super Hornet operating from the USS Abraham Lincoln targeted the ship’s engineering and steering spaces, preventing the tanker from continuing its journey. CENTCOM stated, “Marivex is no longer heading to Iran.”

The U.S. military has not provided information regarding casualties, damage to targeted systems, or the identity and nationality of the crew members on board.
