Raipur, June 12: TS Singh Deo, former Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and Congress leader, has raised concerns regarding India’s economic outlook, fuel distribution challenges, and meetings with investors. He emphasized the need for the government to be truthful about the state of the economy and employment opportunities.
Addressing the government’s restrictions on diesel, Singh Deo stated, “When limits are set, black marketing begins. If a quota system is implemented, black marketing will occur. Many have informed me that obtaining diesel is becoming increasingly difficult. Diesel is being sold at prices exceeding the government rate by 10 rupees.”
In response to Prime Minister Modi’s remarks at the NITI Aayog meeting, where he claimed India is progressing amid global crises, Singh Deo cautioned against misleading the electorate. “The majority of voters who enabled you to serve as Prime Minister should not be misled,” he asserted.
Criticizing the central government, he added that people should not be reassured that everything is fine, as renowned global economists indicate that our situation is deteriorating. Whether it concerns Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) or the lack of funding for new industries, he questioned how money would circulate among the populace without new initiatives or job opportunities.
Singh Deo highlighted ongoing issues in the country, including gas shortages, a deficit of petrol and diesel, and a lack of employment. “Our economy is declining, and these realities should be shared openly with the public,” he urged.
Commenting on Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai’s participation in the Investors Summit in Hyderabad, Singh Deo remarked, “Investment is an ongoing process. Chhattisgarh supplies electricity to Telangana, and questions often arise regarding timely payments for this service. Such issues have repeatedly surfaced. Concerns about outstanding payments of 10,000 to 20,000 crores have been discussed since the previous Congress government.”
