Washington, February 17: A crucial second round of talks between the United States and Iran is set to take place today in Geneva. This meeting is significant for both nations. Ahead of the discussions, President Donald Trump indicated that he would be indirectly involved in the negotiations.

While Trump expressed hope for a major breakthrough, he also warned of consequences if the talks fail. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while returning from Florida, he stated, “Typically, Iran is very tough in negotiations. I hope they will act more sensibly. They want to reach an agreement.”

He added, “I don’t think they want to face the consequences of not making a deal.”

Trump referenced recent military actions, saying, “They would have had nuclear weapons within a month. If that had happened, it would have been an entirely different agreement.”

On domestic issues, Trump noted, “You have seen low inflation, very low inflation. Prices are down significantly. In many places, gasoline is below $2 a gallon, which no one expected, but I did, because we are following the early expressions of ‘drill, baby, drill.'”

He remarked, “As for gasoline, oil, and gas, other products have also become expensive due to Joe Biden. We inherited a mess, and we have rebuilt our country with great strength.”

Additionally, Trump claimed a record improvement in crime rates, stating, “We have the best murder numbers since 1900, before my father was born. We have removed thousands of people. Many criminals who were brought in have been removed.”

Regarding funding for the Department of Homeland Security, Trump mentioned he would meet with Democrats this week about DHS funding. He blamed Democrats for a partial shutdown, asserting it had nothing to do with Republicans, calling it a “Democrat shutdown.”

On voting laws, he criticized the Democratic Party’s stance, saying, “They don’t want voter ID because they want to cheat in elections. They don’t want to provide proof of citizenship. They don’t want to give voter ID.”

When questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein case, Trump stated, “I have nothing to hide. I have been cleared. I have no connection to Jeffrey Epstein.”

He also commented on Cuba, saying, “Cuba is currently a failed state. Marco Rubio is speaking with Cuba, and they should definitely make a deal because it is a humanitarian issue. It truly is a humanitarian threat.”

When asked about potential actions if the talks fail, he replied, “I don’t want to answer that. Why would I? If I did, it wouldn’t be a very difficult operation.”

After a recent conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Trump mentioned Taiwan, saying, “We had a good conversation, and we will make a decision soon regarding sending more weapons.”

Furthermore, he praised First Lady Melania Trump, stating, “She does very impactful work. I believe in the end, you will see her recognized as one of the truly great First Ladies.”
