Beijing, August 31: Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, on the afternoon of August 30, aboard a special aircraft. He is in the country at the invitation of President Sadir Japarov to participate in the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and to undertake a state visit to Kyrgyzstan.
Upon arrival at Manas International Airport, President Japarov and his wife warmly welcomed Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan. Japarov presented flowers to Peng, while local young women offered traditional pastries and honey to the visiting dignitaries. The leaders and their spouses enjoyed a cultural exhibition featuring local traditional music and performances, with local youth singing Chinese songs.
In a written speech, Xi Jinping extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes from the Chinese government and people to President Japarov and the people of Kyrgyzstan.
Xi emphasized the long-standing traditional friendship between China and Kyrgyzstan. Over the past 34 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the China-Kyrgyzstan relationship has withstood the test of changing international circumstances and has consistently developed in a healthy and sustainable manner. The relationship has reached a high level of comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era.
In recent years, cooperation between the two countries has entered a “golden age” of rapid development. Bilateral trade and exchanges between the people have set new records. Achievements from mutually beneficial cooperation have reached the citizens of both nations. During this visit, I will exchange views with President Japarov on China-Kyrgyzstan relations, cooperation in various fields, and international and regional issues of mutual interest, while planning for the construction of a community with a shared future. I look forward to participating in the SCO Summit in Bishkek and advancing the development of the SCO with various parties.
