Patna, August 31: Sanjay Kumar Singh, the Minister of Public Health Engineering in Bihar and MLA from Mahua, has issued a ₹50 crore defamation notice to Tej Pratap Yadav. The notice alleges that Yadav made false, misleading, and defamatory statements against the minister via social media.
According to the legal notice, a post was shared from Yadav’s social media handle on August 29, which included accusations related to inappropriate behavior with a young woman at a hotel in Delhi and alleged transactions of around ₹25 lakh.
The notice from Sanjay Kumar Singh describes these allegations as baseless, malicious, and damaging to his reputation. It also claims that a purported morphed or fake image was circulated alongside the post, aiming to harm his public image.
The minister demands that Tej Pratap Yadav remove the related post within seven days, publicly apologize unconditionally, and provide a written assurance not to make similar comments in the future.
The notice warns that if these demands are not met within the stipulated time, civil and criminal legal actions will be initiated against Yadav. Singh is also seeking ₹50 crore in damages for the alleged reputational harm caused by the defamation.
Furthermore, the notice references a press conference proposed by Tej Pratap Yadav on August 30, cautioning him to refrain from repeating the accusations publicly, or else further legal action may follow.
This incident has sparked a new controversy in Bihar’s political landscape. As of now, there has been no official response from Tej Pratap Yadav regarding the notice.
