New Delhi, August 4: In a recent interview, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that negotiations regarding Iran are nearing a conclusion. He emphasized that this is not a complicated matter, specifically mentioning the need to open the Strait of Hormuz. “It should be fully opened by Tuesday,” he asserted.
Trump elaborated that this is just the first phase, with discussions on nuclear issues to follow. He reiterated a firm stance, declaring that Iran must not possess nuclear weapons. “This is their last chance for a good agreement,” he warned, highlighting that talks are still ongoing.
Earlier, Trump criticized Iranian leadership for being “two-faced.” He noted that while they plead for negotiations with the U.S., they publicly claim that no discussions are taking place. He pointed out their contradictory statements regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite Iran’s claims, Trump insisted that the U.S. maintains control over the Strait. “As long as we don’t want anything to reach Iran, it won’t,” he stated.
On social media platform Truth Social, Trump remarked, “Iran’s leadership makes surprising contradictory statements. They demand meetings and some even say they are ‘pleading’ for them. However, once talks begin, they proudly claim that no discussions are happening.”
He emphasized that the U.S. Navy already has full control over the area, and any blockade or what some call “America’s steel wall” is firmly in place.
Trump concluded by stating that nothing will reach Iran unless the U.S. permits it, and this will only change if a deal is struck or Iran fully surrenders. He maintained that the issue of Iran’s nuclear capabilities must be resolved, asserting, “Iran will never have nuclear weapons.”
In contrast, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei dismissed Trump’s claims about “indirect talks.” He stated, “We have no plans to welcome any representatives or send anyone for negotiations. Currently, there are no discussions with the U.S.”
