New Delhi, August 3: U.S. President Donald Trump has once again reversed his stance on negotiations with Iran. He labeled the Iranian leadership as having a “double character.” Trump stated that while they plead for talks with the U.S., they publicly assert that no discussions are taking place as soon as meetings are scheduled. He noted that they even make bold claims regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump emphasized that regardless of Iran’s claims, it is clear that the U.S. maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz. He asserted that as long as the U.S. does not permit it, nothing will reach Iran.
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump remarked, “Iran’s leadership makes astonishingly contradictory statements. They demand meetings, with some even suggesting they are ‘pleading’ for them. Talks begin, and several rounds are scheduled, but then they proudly claim that no discussions are happening, that there is no dialogue on any issue, and that they are only speaking with Oman.”
He added that they continue to make grand claims about their strong control over the Strait of Hormuz. The reality is that the U.S. Navy already has complete control over that area, and what some call a “blockade” or “America’s steel wall” is firmly in place.
Trump reiterated that nothing can reach Iran unless the U.S. allows it, and nothing will arrive until an agreement is reached or Iran fully surrenders. He stated that whether Iran acknowledges it or not, the U.S. is working to resolve the issue that it has created over decades. The message is clear: Iran will never possess nuclear weapons.
On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei dismissed Trump’s claims regarding “indirect talks” with the U.S. during a press briefing.
Baghaei stated, “We have no plans to welcome any representatives or send anyone for negotiations. Currently, there are no discussions with the U.S.”
He characterized the joint actions of the U.S. and Israel against Iran as a war against not just one country but the entire region. He told reporters, “This is a war against the security of the entire area and all the countries within it.”
He also clarified that there are no disagreements between Iran and Oman regarding the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The ongoing discussions between Iran and Oman aim to establish a temporary route for the safe passage of ships in the Strait.
