New Delhi, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MP Sukdev Bhagat has responded sharply to comments made by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, asserting that opposition parties are fighting to protect the Constitution. This statement came during a meeting of the India Block in New Delhi, where issues like the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and concerns over EVMs were discussed.
Chouhan remarked that Rahul Gandhi and his party are not taken seriously. In response, Bhagat stated that Chouhan’s concerns stem from Gandhi’s exposure of the alleged collusion between the Election Commission and the BJP. He described the situation as a blatant disregard for democratic principles, claiming that the Commission has consistently engaged in misconduct and appears to favor the ruling party.
Bhagat emphasized that the public is expressing its anger over these issues. He reiterated the responsibility of opposition parties to safeguard the Constitution and highlighted that the topic of vote theft was also raised during the meeting.
In another development, Samajwadi Party MP Virendra Singh countered questions regarding the absence of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav from the India Block meeting. He suggested that the BJP should focus on unifying its own party first, asserting that the India alliance remains fully united and is actively pursuing its agenda.
Singh also praised Indian Captain Smita Machhar, who saved a Flydubai flight, commending the bravery of Indians, whether they are Air Force personnel, pilots, or technocrats, who have consistently demonstrated their capabilities on the global stage.
Addressing comments made by Sunil Ambecker, the publicity chief of the RSS, regarding the NRC, Singh pointed out that the Election Commission is already handling matters related to the NRC. He noted that there is growing skepticism among the public about how the Commission operates, especially with its recent changes to its own rules.
Lastly, in response to statements made by yoga guru Baba Ramdev, Singh questioned whether Ramdev’s products are selling less these days, suggesting that this might be why he is engaging in political discourse on Hindu-Muslim issues.
