
New Delhi, June 24: On the death anniversary of former President of India, Varahagiri Venkata Giri, also known as V.V. Giri, several leaders, including Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, paid their respects.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed his homage on social media, stating, “I pay my heartfelt tribute to the great freedom fighter and former President of India, Bharat Ratna V.V. Giri on his death anniversary. You will always be remembered as a true hero who illuminated the lives of workers through your service to the nation and society.”
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also took to social media, posting, “On the death anniversary of the great freedom fighter and former President of India, Bharat Ratna V.V. Giri, I pay my respects! His unparalleled contributions to worker welfare, nation-building, and strengthening democracy will always be remembered. His thoughts and ideals will continue to inspire us.”
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary shared his tribute, stating, “I offer my heartfelt condolences and respect on the death anniversary of former President Varahagiri Venkata Giri, who was honored with the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna.”
The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand remarked on social media, “On the death anniversary of former President Bharat Ratna V.V. Giri, I offer my humble tribute. Your life, dedicated to advocating for workers’ rights and the national interest, will always inspire the citizens of this country.”
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu wrote, “I pay my heartfelt tribute to Bharat Ratna and former President V.V. Giri on his death anniversary. The nation will always remember his contributions to the freedom movement and his efforts for workers’ rights.”
Bihar government minister Vijay Kumar Sinha also honored Giri on social media, stating, “I bow to the Indian freedom fighter, eloquent speaker, renowned writer, and skilled politician, the fourth President of India, Bharat Ratna V.V. Giri on his death anniversary.”
Varahagiri Venkata Giri, the fourth President of India, played a significant role in labor movements and trade unions. He served as Labor Minister, Governor of various states, and Vice President of India. In recognition of his remarkable contributions to public life and nation-building, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1975.
