Imphal, July 16: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh stated on Wednesday that a transparent and merit-based recruitment system in government services strengthens public trust in governance and institutions. He reiterated that transparency and fairness are the highest priorities for the state government.
The Chief Minister participated in a congratulatory event for the successful candidates of the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) 2022 batch, held at a hotel in Imphal.
During his address, he praised private coaching centers for their unwavering commitment to training civil service candidates, despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the current law and order situation in the state.
Addressing the newly selected candidates of MPSC 2022, the Chief Minister inquired if there were any doubts regarding the transparency of the recruitment process. When the successful candidates unanimously responded with a ‘no,’ he emphasized that transparency and fairness are indeed the government’s top priorities.
Chief Minister Singh noted that he deliberately did not contact or meet with the chairperson of the Manipur Public Service Commission before the announcement of the exam results. He further stated that he congratulated the chairperson only after the results were declared, as he aimed to keep the entire recruitment process transparent, fair, and free from external influence.
Expressing satisfaction with the results, Chief Minister Khemchand Singh remarked that the government is pleased that the selected candidates achieved success based on merit and have impeccable reputations.
He also mentioned that the BJP-led state government has implemented a Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for civil services, allocating ₹2.8 crore annually. Under this scheme, the top 200 civil service candidates will receive full scholarships for their preparation, reaffirming the government’s commitment to encouraging talented youth to join public service.
