Aki Abe Emotionally Connects with PM Modi During Meeting in New Delhi

Aki Abe, wife of late Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, shares an emotional meeting with PM Modi, reflecting on their shared history.

New Delhi, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Aki Abe, the widow of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, in New Delhi on October 8. The meeting was a poignant moment for both, as Modi expressed his appreciation for the longstanding ties between India and Japan. Aki conveyed her deep emotions during the encounter, stating that meeting the Prime Minister brought tears to her eyes.

Modi shared details of their meeting on the social media platform X, expressing his happiness at connecting with Aki. He noted, “I deeply value the long-standing connection that Shinzo Abe had with India.” He referred to Abe as a close friend and visionary leader who played a crucial role in elevating India-Japan relations.

The meeting coincided with the inauguration of the “Abe Memorial Corridor” at the Rudraksh Convention Center in Varanasi, which was unveiled by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Modi described this tribute as a fitting homage to Abe’s invaluable contributions to India-Japan friendship.

Aki characterized the meeting as emotionally overwhelming, saying, “The warmth I felt from Prime Minister Modi brought tears to my eyes. I am committed to strengthening the bonds between Japan and India. My husband would certainly have been with us in spirit.”

On October 7, the unveiling of the corridor took place in Varanasi, where Yogi Adityanath honored Abe’s legacy on behalf of the people of Uttar Pradesh and the entire nation. Shinzo Abe had visited India in 2015, where he participated in the Ganga Aarti alongside Modi and gifted the Rudraksh Convention Center to the city. The newly established memorial corridor will preserve the memories of Abe’s visit and contributions.
