
Kalyan, February 24: A shocking incident has emerged from Kalyan East, Maharashtra, where a young bank employee took his own life after being bitten by a stray dog. Fearing rabies, he hanged himself, causing widespread panic in the community.
The deceased has been identified as Ais Vishwanath Amin, a resident of Sahyog Society at Tisgaon Naka, and a senior employee at a private bank.
According to family members and local sources, the young man was bitten on the leg by a stray dog a few days prior. Following the incident, he sought medical advice and received rabies vaccinations. Despite this, he became mentally distressed, plagued by the fear of contracting rabies and the potential consequences for his family. Reports indicate that this anxiety led him to become increasingly troubled, ultimately resulting in his tragic decision to end his life.
Upon learning of the incident, police arrived at the scene and have taken the body for further investigation. The case is being registered as an accidental death and is under inquiry.
In the aftermath, there has been growing concern among locals regarding the rising threat posed by stray dogs. Mahesh Gaikwad, a councilor from the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), has met with the additional municipal commissioner, Harshal Gaikwad, urging for stringent measures to control the increasing population of stray dogs in the city.
