New Delhi, March 31: NCP leader Seema Malik has expressed her sorrow over the tragic stampede at Nalanda Temple, calling it a deeply unfortunate incident. “We have witnessed such events before. In this country, human lives seem to hold no value,” she stated.
Malik recalled past stampedes, including those during the Kumbh Mela, at New Delhi railway station, and during celebrations for an IPL victory in Karnataka. Each of these incidents resulted in numerous casualties. “The concerning aspect is that no one is held accountable for such tragedies. These events must not recur. There should be a thorough investigation, and strict action must be taken against those responsible,” she emphasized.
Regarding the murder of a retired brigadier in Dehradun, Malik described it as another tragic event. She questioned the reasons behind the murder, highlighting concerns about law and order. “Incidents of murder and sexual assault are on the rise. We need stringent measures to prevent such occurrences and ensure transparent investigations,” she urged.
On the issue of Naxalism, Malik responded to Home Minister Amit Shah’s statements in Parliament, asking, “What have you done for a Naxal-free India?” She criticized Shah for blaming the Congress party, asserting that merely pointing fingers at Indira Gandhi and Nehru will not resolve the issues. “Targeting the opposition as urban Naxals is not the solution. If you are a patriot, then Rahul Gandhi is more patriotic than you,” she remarked.
Concerning illegal immigration, Malik noted the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam. “Why haven’t those identified been deported? During the UPA government from 2005 to 2014, around 88,700 individuals were deported, but only about 3,000 have been deported from 2014 to 2024,” she highlighted.
