Israel Praises Indias Stance on Free Navigation in Hormuz Amid Global Tensions

New Delhi, April 9: Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, commended India’s robust pursuit of its national interests amidst current global tensions. In a special interview, he highlighted India’s support for unrestricted navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, coinciding with efforts to resume commercial maritime routes.

Azar stated, “India is acting with its interests in mind. Our bilateral relations are strong, especially following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel. That visit resulted in significant agreements in defense, finance, infrastructure, technology, AI, and education. We are pleased that India supports free movement at sea. It is essential for countries to respect international law and avoid pressure on maritime routes.”

On Wednesday, India welcomed the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, expressing hope for lasting peace in West Asia. The Ministry of External Affairs remarked, “We have consistently stated that de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy are the right paths to resolve this conflict. The ongoing strife has caused significant harm to people and disrupted energy supplies and trade worldwide. We hope trade and shipping in the Strait of Hormuz will continue without interruption.”

India has always supported peace and welcomes any steps that promote stability. The country anticipates that these new developments in West Asia will also encourage peace efforts in Ukraine.

The Israeli ambassador noted that many countries are now uniting due to Iran’s activities. He explained that there is a growing awareness of how aggressive this regime is. If Iran’s threats were allowed to materialize, the situation could worsen. He also expressed hope that Iran would collaborate with the United States towards peace, especially as major threats like its nuclear program diminish.

Azar concluded, “We are satisfied. We have completed our military actions and are now pleased that diplomacy has another chance. We hope Iran will seize this opportunity and cooperate with President Trump’s 15-point plan. If this happens, not only will Iran benefit, but the entire region will as well.”

He added, “We want this to happen, but if the ceasefire is violated or tensions escalate again, we are prepared. Our military is ready, and we will defend ourselves.”
