Tragic Road Accident in Odisha Claims Six Lives, CM Expresses Condolences

Bhubaneswar, May 22: A devastating road accident in the Purushottampur area of Ganjam district, Odisha, has resulted in the loss of six lives. This tragic incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the entire region. Chief Minister Mohan Chara Majhi has expressed profound grief over the accident.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Chief Minister Majhi extended his condolences to the bereaved families and announced a relief amount of ₹4 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for each deceased’s closest relative.

An official post from the Chief Minister’s Office in Odisha stated, “Six lives were lost in the tragic road accident in Purushottampur, Ganjam district. Chief Minister Mohan Chara Majhi has expressed deep sorrow and condolences to the families of the deceased. He has announced a compensation of ₹4 lakh to the families of each victim from the CMRF.”

The Chief Minister has instructed officials to ensure proper and prompt medical treatment for the injured. He also wished for the swift recovery of all those hurt in the incident.

Preliminary reports indicate that the collision between two vehicles in the Purushottampur area was so severe that it resulted in the immediate death of six individuals. Local police and administration promptly initiated rescue operations. The deceased have been identified, and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

Chief Minister Majhi has directed the administration to take necessary actions immediately. He emphasized the need for officials to remain proactive in ensuring better treatment for the injured and providing all possible assistance to the families of the deceased. The Odisha government is treating this incident with utmost seriousness.

The Chief Minister also stated that the state will intensify its road safety campaign to prevent such accidents. This unfortunate event has once again highlighted the critical issue of road safety.
