
Patna, April 12: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident in Katihar that resulted in multiple fatalities. He described the incident as profoundly distressing and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
The Chief Minister has announced a financial aid of ₹200,000 from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. Senior officials have been dispatched to the accident site to oversee relief and rescue operations. Kumar also wished for the swift recovery of those injured and instructed that they receive appropriate medical care.
Earlier, former Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed his grief over the incident. In a post on the social media platform X, he described the collision between a bus and a pickup truck in Katihar as tragic and painful. The untimely demise of ten individuals in this horrific accident has left him deeply saddened.
He extended his heartfelt sympathies to the grieving families and prayed for peace for the departed souls, as well as strength for the affected families to endure this unbearable loss. Yadav urged the government to provide financial assistance to the victims’ families and ensure prompt medical treatment for the injured. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those hurt in the accident.
According to police reports, the incident occurred in Gedabari, near the Busgada Chowk on National Highway-31. It was reported that the occupants of the pickup were returning from a religious ceremony when a speeding bus collided with their vehicle. This head-on collision resulted in the tragic loss of ten lives.
