New Delhi, April 15: The JBL Go 5, initially unveiled in China earlier this March, is now making its way to the US market. Although JBL has yet to issue an official global announcement, the speaker is already listed on Amazon US, with pre-orders available for $54.95 and a release date set for April 26.
The Amazon listing showcases the Go 5 in seven vibrant colors: Black, Blue, Purple, Red, Teal, White, and Squad. Previous listings from China featured slightly different hues, including Sky Blue, Pink, Orange, and Deep Blue. A notable addition is the WINK ambient lighting, which enhances the speaker’s visual appeal.
In terms of design, the Go 5 maintains its compact, block-style form, measuring 101 x 77.4 x 43 mm and weighing approximately 230 grams. Its size makes it easy to carry in a small bag or even a jacket pocket. The speaker boasts an IP68 rating, ensuring protection against dust and water exposure.
Internally, the speaker is equipped with a 45 mm driver that delivers an output of 4.8 W RMS. JBL’s Harman Acoustics team has fine-tuned the audio, providing a frequency response range from 100 Hz to 19 kHz and a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 85 dB. This setup is designed for personal listening and small spaces.
The Go 5 features an upgrade to Bluetooth 6.0 and supports SBC, AAC, and LC3 codecs. It also introduces Bluetooth AURACAST, enabling audio sharing across multiple compatible devices. Additionally, the AirTouch one-tap pairing feature allows for quicker connections.
Users can pair two units for stereo sound or connect multiple speakers for an expansive audio experience. The speaker supports USB-C audio playback with a built-in DAC when connected to a computer. It operates on a 1000 mAh battery rated at 3.85 Wh, offering up to 8 hours of playback without lighting. Charging takes approximately three hours via a 5V/1A USB-C input.
