Tragic Loss: Hyderabad Student Commits Suicide Before NEET Re-Test

Hyderabad, June 21: A 19-year-old student preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) took her own life on June 20, just a day before the re-test.

According to police reports, Sheikh Sana was residing in the Miyapur area of Hyderabad with her two sisters. Her father, Sheikh Jafar Hussain, works in Kuwait, while her mother had recently traveled to Proddatur, Andhra Pradesh.

Authorities believe that the pressure of studies, family expectations, and anxiety over past failures may have contributed to her tragic decision. Sana left a note in English stating that no one was responsible for her death.

Initial investigations revealed that Sana had attempted the NEET exam last year but did not pass. After extensive coaching, she participated in the exam held last month and was preparing for the re-test scheduled for Sunday.

On Saturday, after breakfast, Sana went to her room. Her sisters assumed she was studying for the exam. However, when she did not come out by evening, they opened the door and found her hanging. They immediately called the police.

The police arrived, removed the body, and sent it for post-mortem at Gandhi Hospital. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway. Sana’s sisters are currently in grades 10 and 6, and their care is being managed by their aunt.

This incident follows a troubling trend, as several students preparing for NEET have taken their lives since the exam was canceled due to allegations of question paper leaks on May 3.
