Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel Engages with Global Firms in New York

New York, August 22: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held one-on-one meetings with senior representatives from JP Morgan, Tillman Global Holdings, Uber, and Golub Capital during his visit to New York. The discussions focused on investment opportunities, financial services, digital infrastructure, and advanced technology.

Chief Minister Patel is leading a high-level delegation to the United States and Canada to attract investments and strengthen international partnerships ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027. The state government previously announced that this trip would include meetings with investors, industry leaders, and technology companies.

During the meeting with JP Morgan, Patel discussed further developing GIFT City as an international financial center. JP Morgan reiterated its commitment to GIFT City and shared plans to enhance its presence and expand business operations there. This discussion is part of efforts to increase participation from global financial institutions in GIFT City. Patel noted that growing confidence from such institutions would bolster the financial center’s status.

Patel also met with Jerry Keefe, co-chairman of Golub Capital, who expressed interest in investing in GIFT City and connecting global institutions involved in banking, insurance, and exchange activities to the GIFT City platform.

In a meeting with Sanjeev Ahuja, founder and chairman of Tillman Global Holdings, discussions centered on Gujarat’s data center sector. Ahuja praised the Gujarat government’s proactive policies, particularly the data center policy, stating that a conducive policy environment and strong government-industry collaboration could drive growth in this sector. The conversation also highlighted opportunities for Dholera to emerge as a hub for next-generation digital infrastructure, including data centers.

Uber expressed interest in expanding its presence in Gujarat’s tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Discussions focused on enhancing transportation and connectivity in smaller cities. Uber also showed interest in partnership opportunities during major sporting events in Gujarat.

The delegation’s visit to IBM Research in Yorktown Heights centered on potential collaboration in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and semiconductor research and development. The delegation was briefed on advanced research and innovation in these fields. Discussions also included opportunities for deep collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation to strengthen research and development capabilities in Gujarat and India.

These meetings in New York aimed to promote Gujarat as an investment destination in the U.S. and invite global companies and investors to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027. During earlier discussions with the Gujarati community in San Francisco, Patel emphasized the state’s focus on emerging sectors such as semiconductors, AI, data centers, and biotechnology. He also called for stronger ties between global Gujarati talent and Gujarat’s industries to foster knowledge sharing and technical collaboration.

Recent meetings in New York have unveiled investment prospects in GIFT City and Dholera, as well as collaboration opportunities in mobility, AI, quantum computing, and semiconductor research. The state government anticipates that these discussions will create further opportunities for investment, employment, technology, research, and innovation in Gujarat.
