Kodagu, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Heavy winds and rain swept through various parts of Kodagu district in Karnataka on October 1, significantly impacting daily life. Areas around Kushalnagar experienced fallen trees and power poles due to the intense winds, while several homes suffered substantial roof damage.

Reports indicate that the stormy winds caused trees and power poles to topple in multiple locations throughout the district. The Kudige industrial area, close to Kushalnagar, also faced damage from the rain and winds. The fallen trees obstructed roads, disrupting traffic until local residents and officials cleared the pathways.
In Kudumangalur, a tree fell onto a pickup truck parked on the street, but fortunately, the driver emerged unscathed. Rain was recorded in various locations, including Kushalnagar, Suntikoppa, Siddhapura, and Napoklu. For farmers who have been struggling with prolonged heat, the rain brought much-needed relief, evident in the renewed joy on their faces.
Given the current weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Kodagu district for the next two days. Local authorities and relevant departments are closely monitoring the situation amid the damage caused by the severe weather.
