
Kolkata, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Train operations on the Sahibganj-Barharwa rail line have been significantly impacted due to erosion along the Ganga riverbank between the Sakrigali and Maharajpur stations. In light of safety concerns, passenger and freight train services on the down line have been temporarily suspended. However, trains on the up line continue to operate at a controlled speed.
Railway officials and staff are working around the clock to address the situation. Measures are being expedited to restore normal services as quickly as possible. In response to the current circumstances, several trains have been canceled, rerouted, or short-terminated.
The 63073 Rampurhat-Sahibganj MEMU service scheduled for October 1 has been canceled. On October 2, a total of 17 trains will not run, including the 63402 Malda Town-Sahibganj MEMU, 63421 Azimganj-Sahibganj MEMU, and 13427 Howrah-Sahibganj Intercity Express, among others.
Additionally, the 13106 Ballia-Sealdah Express, traveling on October 2, and the 13020 Kathgodam-Howrah Bagh Express, which is scheduled for September 30 and October 1, will be rerouted via the Munger-Bhagalpur-Banka-Deoghar-Jasidih bypass, with stops at Bhagalpur and Deoghar.
Similarly, the 15657 Delhi-Kamakhya Brahmaputra Mail and 15734 Bhatinda-Balurghat Farakka Express will also take alternative routes on October 1.
For October 2, the 13024 Gaya-Howrah Express will operate via Kiul-Jhajha-Asansol, while the 13404 Bhagalpur-Ranchi Vananchal Express and 13072 Jamalpur-Howrah Express will run through Bhagalpur-Dumka-Rampurhat.
The 53029 Azimganj-Bhagalpur passenger service, starting on October 1 and 2, will be short-terminated at Barharwa. Additionally, the 13410 Kiul-Malda Town Intercity Express will be short-terminated at Sahibganj, while the 13409 Malda Town-Kiul Intercity Express will begin operations from Sahibganj.
To aid passengers, two additional passenger trains have been arranged to operate between Sahibganj and Bhagalpur, departing at 10:20 AM and 5:00 PM from Sahibganj.
The railway administration is committed to restoring normal operations in the affected sector. Passengers are advised to check the latest operational status of their respective trains before commencing their journeys.
