Tragic Accident in Hyderabad: Three Workers Killed in Construction Site Fall

Hyderabad, March 6: A tragic incident occurred in Hyderabad on Thursday, resulting in the death of three workers after they fell from the fifth floor of a construction site. Two additional workers sustained injuries in the accident.

The incident took place in the Al-Hasanat Colony of the Tolichowki area when scaffolding collapsed. According to police reports, two workers died at the scene, while a third succumbed to injuries during treatment. Local residents rushed the injured workers to a nearby hospital after they fell onto bricks and wooden beams.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. Reports indicate that the victims were migrant workers from Srikakulam district in the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh.

Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the accident was caused by a failure to adhere to safety protocols during construction.

Vivek Venkataswamy, the state’s labor minister, contacted officials to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care. He has also requested a comprehensive report on the incident and the health status of the workers.

Dr. Dasoju Sravan, an MLC from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), visited the site and expressed his condolences over the tragic event. He noted that individuals traveling in autos and cars on the road at the time of the incident were also injured.

Sravan raised concerns about how permission was granted for a seven-story building on a plot of land less than 300 square yards. He demanded clarification from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials regarding the approval process for such constructions.

He further questioned why the GHMC and the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency have not taken action against the widespread illegal construction occurring throughout the city.

Sravan alleged that bribes are being accepted in exchange for permits for illegal construction. He pointed out that there has been a rise in incidents of fires and accidents related to buildings, indicating the government’s failure to enforce safety regulations.
