Patna, March 14: In response to growing concerns about the availability of cooking gas across Bihar, the state’s Food and Consumer Protection Department has set up a control room in Patna to address public grievances related to oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
This control room aims to provide immediate assistance to consumers facing difficulties in obtaining LPG cylinders. It will operate daily from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, allowing residents across the state to register complaints or seek information regarding LPG availability and distribution.
Consumers can report their issues by contacting the departmental control room at 0612-2233050. Officials have assured that the department will promptly address complaints and ensure necessary actions are taken.
The department has urged the public to reach out to the control room instead of panicking, ensuring that their problems are resolved swiftly.
Meanwhile, Patna’s District Magistrate, Tyagarajan SM, stated that there is no shortage of LPG in the district. He further noted that the administration is closely monitoring hoarders and black marketeers while providing a control room for addressing public complaints.
However, the situation appeared tense in Katihar, where long queues formed outside gas agencies despite the administration’s claims of sufficient stock and dismissing shortage reports as mere rumors. Reports indicated that a woman fainted amid the crowd waiting for cylinder refills.
In Araria, the administration, led by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, conducted a significant raid and seized 135 illegally stored LPG cylinders intended for black market sales. These cylinders were recovered from a warehouse where they had been hoarded.
A similar situation was observed in Sasaram, where consumers gathered outside gas agencies from early morning. Many residents reported standing in line since 5:00 AM to refill their LPG cylinders, with hundreds seen waiting outside various agencies.
