Mumbai, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Jackie Shroff recently commemorated the 34th anniversary of the film “Angaar,” which was released in 1992. The actor took to Instagram to share a video montage featuring memorable moments from the film, paired with the iconic song “Idhar Dekho Udhar Dekho.” The montage highlights his character, Jaykishan “Jiggu,” alongside scenes with the film’s other cast members.
In his post, Shroff expressed his nostalgia, stating, “It’s been 34 years since the release of Angaar.” He tagged several members of the cast and crew, including Shashilal K. Nair, Dimple Kapadia, Kader Khan, Achyut Potdar, Om Puri, Sulabha Deshpande, and Tom Alter.
Directed by Shashilal K. Nair, “Angaar” is regarded as one of Bollywood’s most impactful mafia films, portraying the complex relationships between Mumbai’s underworld, politicians, and builders. The screenplay was written by Sujit Sen, while Kader Khan contributed the dialogues. The film’s music was composed by the duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, with lyrics by Anand Bakshi. Its popular songs include “Idhar Dekho Udhar Dekho,” “Mushkil Mein Hai Kaun Kisi Ka,” “Geet Purane Gaon,” “Kitni Jaldi Yeh Mulakat Guzar Jaati Hai,” and “Chal Aage Aur Dekh Peeche.”
The narrative centers around Jiggu, a fearless young man living in a Mumbai slum who openly confronts corruption. His life takes a turn when he meets an orphan girl, whom he brings home. The tension escalates when Jiggu faces the powerful and dangerous Khan family, led by Jahangir Khan, portrayed by Kader Khan. As Jiggu refuses to bow to their sinister intentions, the story takes a dramatic twist.
