TMCs Internal Struggles Highlighted by BJPs Samik Bhattacharya

Kolkata, May 6: In light of recent political developments following the West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya has addressed several key issues. He responded to allegations from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) regarding post-election violence and vandalism attributed to the BJP. Bhattacharya asserted that the TMC is facing internal conflicts, claiming that members of the party are engaging in violence against each other.

He provided an example where a candidate from Barasat reached out to him, and even former MP Dilip Ghosh received a call from a TMC candidate reporting an attack on their office. When asked who was responsible for the attack, the response indicated that the assailant was also affiliated with the TMC. Bhattacharya emphasized that the BJP will not tolerate violence under any circumstances and is committed to preventing it.

Regarding the rising enthusiasm among the Hindu community and the reopening of temples, Bhattacharya noted that several locations, including Murshidabad and Asansol, have reopened temples, creating a joyful atmosphere. He accused the previous administration of creating an environment with indirect restrictions on religious activities, such as allowing lighting diyas but prohibiting the blowing of conch shells or chanting religious slogans during funerals.

He questioned the appropriateness of such restrictions in a free country and whether the government would dictate the timing of festivals like Durga Puja. Bhattacharya asserted that the BJP’s politics are not divisive but advocate for equal rights for all.

In response to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s statement about continuing her political fight and remaining in power, Bhattacharya briefly remarked that the Constitution of the country governs such matters, and all decisions should fall within its framework.

On the topic of former U.S. President Donald Trump congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the BJP’s decisive electoral victory, Bhattacharya stated that it would not affect the democratic process in the state. He noted that whether Trump congratulated or not, it does not change the mandate of West Bengal. However, he acknowledged that a significant number of voters from various parts of the world, including California, Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, and Dallas, came to vote in Bengal, indicating that the election garnered attention from across the globe.

According to him, there has been a significant demographic change in the state, which has compromised security, and he deemed the BJP’s victory crucial in this context.
