Bareilly, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : In Bareilly, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi, the national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has spoken out against the demolition of places of worship following a notice issued to a mosque in Moradabad. He emphasized that no place of worship—be it a mosque, temple, gurdwara, or church—should face demolition.
During a discussion in Bareilly, Bareilvi highlighted the increasing actions against mosques in Uttar Pradesh. He pointed to a recent incident in Saharanpur where a mosque was deemed illegal and demolished. Now, a similar situation is unfolding in Moradabad, where the Moradabad Development Authority has issued a notice regarding the Mustafa Mosque, sparking further controversy.
Bareilvi stated, “It is not just our view but the sentiment of millions of Muslims in India that no place of worship should be subjected to demolition. Whether it is a temple or a mosque, such actions are unacceptable. In the case of the temple in Ujjain, there was no rush to demolish it, while the mosque in Saharanpur was brought down without waiting for the sun to rise. This is deeply regrettable. We oppose any demolition of religious sites.”
In response to another question, Bareilvi commented on Prime Minister Modi’s new initiative aimed at community service, stating that it is a collective responsibility of all 1.45 billion Indians. He urged people to stand together in times of injustice, help those in need, and extend compassion to one another. “If someone is suffering, we must support them, feed the hungry, provide water to the thirsty, and guide those who are lost. This is the essence of true service,” he concluded.
