TMCs Derek OBrien Faces Criticism Over Record Voter Turnout in Bengal

New Delhi, April 24: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has criticized the TMC government in West Bengal for its handling of record voter turnout. He specifically targeted TMC leader Derek O’Brien, who recently made a bold statement on social media platform X. O’Brien claimed, “Narendra Modi, you announced candidates for all 294 seats in Bengal. Stop making grand statements. On May 4, Mamata Banerjee and TMC will win. Accept the challenge and resign from the Prime Minister’s position.”

In response, Dharmendra Pradhan took to X, stating, “Such arrogant statements only confirm how disconnected TMC leader Derek O’Brien is from the changing mood in West Bengal. The TMC’s tyrannical grip, which once instilled fear across the state, is now struggling to cope with unprecedented voter participation. They are realizing that those they tried to silence can now deliver a verdict that could dismantle years of their politics of fear and oppression.”

Pradhan emphasized that the record voter turnout reflects the trust voters have in the Prime Minister. He remarked, “When leaders who run their governance through intimidation start issuing ultimatums to the Prime Minister of India, it showcases neither strength nor confidence. It merely reflects political insecurity, hostility, and fear. The people of Bengal have expressed their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They are ready to voice their decision against corruption, infiltration, violence, and the systematic political oppression perpetuated by the TMC for years.”

He added that on May 4, when Bengal announces its verdict, those who make reckless attacks against democratically elected leaders may have to bow their heads in shame. The state’s populace will send a clear message that the politics of arrogance, disrespect, and intimidation can no longer dominate Bengal’s democratic will.
