Thunderstorms and Rain Expected in Delhi-NCR with Yellow Alert Issued

New Delhi, June 30: Residents of Delhi-NCR, who have been enduring intense heat and humidity for several days, can expect some relief. The changing weather in the hilly regions is now affecting the plains as well.

According to the latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorms and rain are likely on Tuesday and Wednesday in Delhi-NCR. A yellow alert has been issued for both days. The weather department has specifically warned of strong surface winds during the afternoon and evening hours. On June 30, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be around 29 degrees Celsius.

The forecast indicates that thunderstorms and rain activities may occur throughout the day, with strong winds anticipated in the afternoon and evening. Similar weather conditions are expected on July 1, with a projected maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius. The weather department has issued warnings for thunderstorms and strong winds for this day as well.

From July 2, improvements in the weather are expected. The forecast suggests that the maximum temperature may drop to 35 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius. Thunderstorms and rain are still anticipated, but no warnings have been issued for this day.

Rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue on July 3 and 4, with maximum temperatures around 34 degrees Celsius and minimums at 23 degrees Celsius. Although no specific warnings have been issued for these days, intermittent rain activities may persist.

Weather experts indicate that the impact of western disturbances and active monsoon activities in the hilly regions is now being felt in the plains. This is expected to lead to a continuous drop in temperatures, providing relief from the oppressive heat and humidity. However, the weather department urges residents to avoid unnecessary exposure to open spaces during the yellow alert, exercise caution while driving, and stay clear of trees, power poles, and weak structures during thunderstorms.
