Rajasthan Police Arrests Mastermind of Multi-Crore Fraud After Six Years on the Run

Jaipur, April 10: Rajasthan’s Dholpur police have achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting Amit Gautam, the alleged mastermind behind a multi-crore fraud scheme. Gautam had been on the run for six years and was wanted with a bounty of ₹43,000 on his head.

He is accused of defrauding around 200 individuals of approximately ₹12.69 crores. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) was also actively searching for him.

Amit Gautam, a resident of Shastri Nagar in Dholpur, fled after running a large fraud network across Dholpur, Jaipur, and Udaipur. He was apprehended in the Lajpat Nagar area of Delhi.

A bounty of ₹40,000 was announced by Bharatpur Range IG Kailash Chand Bishnoi, while Jaipur West police had placed a reward of ₹3,000 for information leading to his capture.

The operation was led by Dholpur SP Vikas Sangwan, with the support of Additional SP Vaibhav Sharma and CO Krishnaraj Jangid.

Holding an M Pharma degree, Gautam built his credibility in the medical field to deceive people. He, along with his associate Arun Agarwal, established seven fake companies, including Vaibhav Enterprises and Routewise Logistics.

To impress potential victims, he showcased luxury cars, watches, and smartphones. His targets primarily included doctors, engineers, and prominent businessmen.

Gautam lured individuals by promising to double their investments in a short time, particularly in land deals. For those lacking funds, he would personally assist them in securing loans from banks.

For the past six months, Dholpur’s cyber cell had been tracking his locations in Jaipur, Udaipur, and Delhi. He was operating a medical store and diagnostic lab in Delhi.

To confirm his identity, police posed as patients and underwent tests at his lab, providing blood samples. Despite attempting to disguise himself in a doctor’s coat and mask, he was apprehended in Block C of Lajpat Nagar.

In Rajasthan, Gautam faces approximately 20 serious cases, including around 15 multi-crore fraud cases registered at the Chitrakoot and Mansarovar police stations in Jaipur, as well as significant cases in Udaipur and several others in Dholpur.

The ED branch in Jaipur has also filed a case against him and is currently investigating.

The arrest team included Station Officer Amit Sharma, SI Harendra Singh, Head Constable Narendra Singh, Constable Harvendra Singh (who played a crucial role), Constable Dinesh, and Constable Nilendra.
