Srinagar, August 25: Security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir have arrested three individuals during a checkpoint operation. Two hand grenades and five posters of the banned terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) were seized from their possession.
Authorities reported that the arrests occurred while checking vehicles in southern Kashmir. The suspects have been identified as Junaid Ahmed Dar, Aamir Yusuf, and Junaid Muzaffar, all residents of Kulgam district.
The security forces have confiscated the materials and further investigations are underway.
Earlier on the same day, security forces in Pulwama district apprehended two associates of terrorists. They were found in possession of a pistol, 12 live cartridges, and another hand grenade.
According to officials, this operation was conducted by the Indian Army‘s 44 Rashtriya Rifles, the 183rd Battalion of the CRPF, and local police in the Yervan forest area near Rajpora.
Based on intelligence inputs, a cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched in the Yervan jungle. During this operation, two individuals exhibiting suspicious behavior were captured while moving towards the CB Nath village.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Latif Ahmed Didad from Lassi Daban and Ejaz Ahmed Bajad from Bunkha Bamnoo. Weapons and explosives were recovered during the search, and investigations are ongoing.
