New Delhi, August 25: The Indian Army has launched a significant operation in Manipur, seizing deadly weapons. Security forces arrested four anti-national elements, including an active cadre of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
This operation was coordinated with various security forces under the Army’s Spear Corps. According to the Spear Corps, the operation lasted nearly a week. During this time, extensive intelligence-based joint operations were conducted across several districts in the state, resulting in substantial success for the security forces.
Joint operations by the Army and other agencies took place in the districts of Tengnoupal, Churachandpur, Thoubal, and Kakching. During these operations, security forces apprehended four active insurgents, including a PLA cadre wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). In total, 21 weapons, a large quantity of ammunition, and other military equipment were recovered.
The recovered items included various military materials used during the operations. The Army and security agencies have described these missions as a significant achievement in curbing violent and armed activities in Manipur. Enhanced coordination among the Army, central security forces, and local agencies facilitated the identification of suspect locations based on intelligence.
The recovered weapons are considered highly dangerous. Security forces assert that such joint and intelligence-based operations play a crucial role in effectively controlling the availability of illegal arms and the activities of armed organizations in Manipur. Interrogation of the arrested individuals is expected to yield vital information regarding their networks, arms supply, and other associates.
