Samastipur, July 20: A tragic incident unfolded in Samastipur, Bihar, on Monday morning when a 12th-grade student was shot dead while on her way to school. The victim, dressed in her school uniform, was targeted by assailants who fired multiple shots, resulting in her immediate death at the scene. This shocking event took place in the Kejiya village of the Vaieni police jurisdiction. Authorities have recovered four shell casings from the site and are preparing to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.
According to police reports, the deceased was a student at Kasturba School. She had just left her home to attend classes when an unknown attacker opened fire near her residence. Initial information indicates that she sustained three gunshot wounds, although official confirmation will come after the post-mortem report. The police arrived promptly at the scene following the report of the shooting and initiated an investigation.
Forensic and DIO teams were also summoned to gather evidence. The police have begun questioning local residents to gather more information. Sanjay Kumar Pandey, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sadar-1, stated that the police regard this incident as a heinous crime and are conducting a thorough investigation. He mentioned that the victim’s family provided crucial information that has led to the identification of a suspect.
Authorities are actively conducting raids to apprehend the suspect and expect an arrest soon. The SDPO noted that the family has shared significant details regarding the motives behind the attack. However, the exact number of shooters remains unclear and is still under investigation. The police are exploring all possible angles related to the case.
The victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The police anticipate that the post-mortem report will confirm the number of gunshot wounds and other medical details. To expedite the resolution of this murder case, an SIT is being established, and the investigation is being intensified based on technical and scientific evidence.
