Tension in Bijnor After Alleged Forced Conversion of Minor to Islam in Kashmir

Bijnor, May 19: Tensions have escalated in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh following reports of an alleged forced conversion of a minor boy. The family claims that a local Muslim youth lured the minor to Kashmir with the promise of a job, where he was coerced into converting to Islam.

According to the family, the minor, identified as Vishal from Bakharpur Gadhi village, was taken to Kashmir under false pretenses of a better job. Once there, he was reportedly threatened and pressured to accept Islam. A video surfaced on social media showing the boy converting, which caused an uproar within his family.

Vishal’s parents and relatives approached the Bijnor Superintendent of Police to file a complaint. His father, Krishna Kumar, stated, “My son is a minor. He was taken away under false pretenses and forced to convert under mental duress. We want our son back safely and demand strict action against those responsible.”

BJP leader Mausam Chaudhary described the situation as serious, noting that Vishal is currently in the custody of a person named Bilal in Kupwara, Kashmir, and has been renamed Hamza. He mentioned that Vishal is expected to return to Bijnor by Tuesday afternoon, at which point the full truth will emerge.

Chaudhary urged the administration to conduct an impartial investigation and take stringent action against the culprits. He emphasized that forced conversion of a minor is a grave issue, and maintaining law and order is the administration’s responsibility.

The police have acknowledged the family’s complaint and stated that a thorough investigation is underway. Officials will verify the authenticity of the viral video and the family’s allegations. If it is confirmed that the boy is a minor and that forced conversion occurred, strict action will be taken under the relevant laws.
