Hyderabad, March 3: The Telangana government is set to launch a comprehensive 99-day public outreach program from March 6 to June 12. Named ‘Praja Palan–Pragati Pranalika’ (People’s Governance–Progress Plan), this initiative will be conducted in five phases. Its primary aim is to bring welfare schemes, development projects, and government services closer to the public.
This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao with district collectors. The Planning Department will act as the nodal department for this campaign. Village-level gram sabhas will take place on April 2, followed by mandal-level meetings on April 16. Programs at the assembly constituency level are scheduled for May 2, and district-level events will occur on May 22. The program will conclude with state formation day celebrations starting June 2. On March 6, preparatory meetings will be held across all former districts under the supervision of ministers. During this period, various development projects will also be inaugurated.
The campaign will cover ten departmental topics, including sanitation, disposal of pending files, health, road safety, welfare schemes, child protection, drug control, farmer welfare, agriculture, education, youth and sports, women’s empowerment, and the environment.
The Chief Minister has instructed officials to ensure that all welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries. Detailed information about the schemes will be provided in gram sabhas, and active participation from local representatives such as ward members, sarpanches, municipal councilors, chairpersons, and mayors is essential.
To build the capacity of local representatives, one-day training programs will be organized at district headquarters, providing clear guidance on their responsibilities. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to raise awareness among farmers about replacing agricultural pump sets with solar pump sets. Information on rooftop solar systems, grid connectivity, and income generation through excess electricity sales will be shared in every village.
Beneficiaries of schemes like new ration cards, fine rice distribution, Indiramma housing, free electricity up to 200 units, loan waivers, free bus travel, and ₹500 gas cylinders will be presented in village and ward assemblies. Instructions have been given to transparently share the total benefits received from village to district levels.
The Chief Minister has also directed effective utilization of services from the state’s 35 government medical colleges. Serious cases from primary health centers and community health centers should be referred to medical colleges, maximizing the use of available advanced equipment, doctors, and professors.
Facial recognition technology will be implemented in all government schemes to ensure benefits reach only eligible individuals. It was reported that through facial recognition, three lakh ineligible beneficiaries were removed from the Asara pension scheme.
Additionally, the transport department has been instructed to fully digitize its data, conduct regular fitness tests for school buses and other vehicles, and organize eye check-up camps for RTC and truck drivers. A WhatsApp number will be issued for reporting potholes and accident-prone areas, with immediate action to be taken on the information received.
