New Delhi, June 12: Telangana Chief Minister K. Revant Reddy met with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Friday. The Chief Minister shared details of the meeting on social media, expressing that meeting Rahul Gandhi is always an energizing and inspiring experience.
Revant Reddy stated, “Meeting my leader Rahul Gandhi is always motivational. I discussed various issues related to the development of Telangana with him. His visionary advice and guidance will help us all in determining the way forward.”
This meeting comes at a time when the political landscape within the Congress party has been stirred by the rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan‘s nomination for the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.
The returning officer canceled Natarajan’s nomination on the grounds that she failed to mention an ongoing case in the Telangana High Court in her affidavit. Following this incident, BJP leaders in Madhya Pradesh claimed they received documents related to this matter through a leader from the Telangana Congress.
The Congress leadership has taken this controversy seriously and has formed a committee to investigate the alleged internal sabotage. Additionally, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has directed the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) to look into how documents were leaked from within the party.
Sources indicate that Rahul Gandhi is taking this matter seriously, as Meenakshi Natarajan was considered his preferred candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections.
Meanwhile, the AICC has also included Meenakshi Natarajan among the party observers for Punjab.
Natarajan is one of seven defendants in a harassment case filed by a woman Congress leader from Hyderabad. Last year, the Fourth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court issued a notice directing her to respond to a private complaint.
This court notice, which was served at the state Congress headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, went viral on social media following the rejection of her Rajya Sabha nomination.
The complainant, a former woman councilor, expressed disappointment over Natarajan’s nomination being rejected, claiming that on June 6, a personal assistant of a senior Congress leader arrived at the court to collect documents related to the case. However, she refused to disclose the name of the leader, stating that CCTV footage from the court premises could confirm her claims.
In her complaint, the woman named Meenakshi Natarajan and six other Congress leaders as defendants for not taking action against Congress leader Kumbham Shivkumar Reddy. Natarajan and the other leaders have filed counter-affidavits in court, with Natarajan asserting that she was made a party to the case with malicious intent.
