Meenakshi Natarajan Vows to Continue Fight After Supreme Court Dismisses Petition

New Delhi, June 12: The Supreme Court has dismissed Meenakshi Natarajan’s petition regarding the cancellation of her nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections from Madhya Pradesh. Following the court’s decision, Natarajan expressed her determination to continue her fight.

In response to the dismissal, Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan stated, “We will carry on our struggle. There is another court in a democracy—the court of public opinion. We will take our fight to them. I will not comment on the Supreme Court’s decision, as it would not be appropriate.”

Natarajan highlighted that the Election Commission has yet to make any decision. “We contacted the Election Commission, but even after 48 hours, they remain silent. This silence speaks volumes,” she added.

The Congress leader emphasized, “I have been saying from day one that the Election Commission is completely influenced, and today this has been proven once again. When the state’s lawyers stand up, the matter is no longer just about Madhya Pradesh. We are not fighting against the states; we are discussing the Election Commission. We are revealing how the returning officers were compromised and have been exposed before the public.”

She further remarked, “Everyone knows that there are different laws for a corporate individual and for those fighting for constitutional values. The fight will proceed according to the party’s decision.”

It is noteworthy that Natarajan’s nomination was rejected on the grounds that she did not disclose information regarding a pending criminal case. Senior Congress leaders approached the Supreme Court seeking relief against this decision. However, the court dismissed the party’s plea, stating that it would not affect any potential electoral petitions at the High Court level. Led by senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Congress leaders protested against this decision, arguing that formal charges had not been established against Natarajan. In response, Congress members staged a satyagraha in New Delhi, opposing the Election Commission’s handling of the matter.
