Telangana CM Advocates Respect Among Democratic Institutions

Hyderabad, April 5: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of mutual respect among all pillars of democracy during a ceremony on Sunday. He stated that these institutions should work collaboratively and avoid conflict.

Reddy highlighted that his government holds both court decisions and various opinions in the highest regard. He spoke at the foundation-laying ceremony for the new building of the Telangana High Court, attended by Chief Justice of India, Justice Suryakant.

“Our democracy comprises three branches—legislature, executive, and judiciary—that operate with autonomy, interdependence, and mutual respect. For an ordinary citizen, the court is the ultimate refuge. Therefore, it is a significant opportunity for my government to initiate the construction of a new High Court complex for Telangana,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister noted that previous governments and chief ministers could have initiated this project, but for various reasons, the responsibility has now fallen to his administration.

He stated, “The new High Court will symbolize a lifeline for society and democracy. It will be a platform where the poor and vulnerable seek justice. For the next 100 years, those who are marginalized will come to this temple of justice with hopes of being heard and obtaining justice.”

Reddy pointed out that the current High Court, a building of great historical significance, is no longer capable of meeting the physical needs of all stakeholders.

He added, “Beyond its heritage, this building reflects my government’s vision and values towards democracy. We believe that all pillars should work cooperatively with mutual respect. My government holds the judiciary in the highest esteem.”

The Chief Minister asserted that providing the judiciary with the best modern facilities to operate at its highest capacity is a duty of the political executive.

He concluded, “The building we are constructing will not only be one of the largest High Court buildings in India but will also set a standard for modernity and excellence in public infrastructure. When we formed our government in December 2023, one of our first decisions was to construct this new High Court complex in Rajendranagar. We have allocated 100 acres of land for this project.”

Reddy also revealed that his government is working on several new projects for 49 courts and various residential quarters across towns and districts in the state.
