Hyderabad, February 13: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged the central government to initiate the proposed high-speed rail corridors from Shamshabad, where the Hyderabad International Airport is located, to Chennai, Bengaluru, and Pune.

The Chief Minister presented this proposal during a meeting with Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at the Parliament House. He also offered 500 acres of land near the airport for the development of these corridors.

In the 2026-27 Union Budget, the announcement was made for high-speed rail corridors connecting Hyderabad to Chennai (778 km), Bengaluru (586 km), and Pune (556 km).

Reddy emphasized that starting these corridors near the international airport would transform Shamshabad into a ‘tri-junction,’ significantly enhancing connectivity. He requested the Rail Minister to expedite the land acquisition process for all three corridors and commence work promptly. According to the Chief Minister’s office, the Rail Minister responded positively to this request.

Revanth Reddy noted that the Hyderabad-Chennai high-speed corridor is proposed to pass through Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh. He requested the development of rail connectivity from there to the port to enhance cargo movement from the proposed dry port in Telangana.

The Chief Minister highlighted his government’s plans to develop the Kodangal assembly constituency, where he was elected, along with Tekalkote and Daulatabad as industrial zones. He mentioned that this area is close to several cement industries in Karnataka and has identified limestone reserves. Efforts are underway to establish Tekalkote as a hub for cement and textile manufacturing industries along this route.

Additionally, the Chief Minister appealed for the Krishna-Vikarabad railway line project to be fully funded by the central government. He reminded that the state government had already assured to bear the entire cost of land acquisition related to this project.
