Beirut, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Tensions in southern Lebanon have escalated following significant Israeli airstrikes, prompting a strong condemnation from Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. He described these attacks as a “dangerous provocation,” highlighting the alarming pattern of Israeli actions targeting not only military sites but also civilian infrastructure.
Aoun specifically noted the complete destruction of the Ghandour Hospital in the Nabatiyeh governorate and severe damage to the Ministry of Finance building. He urged the United States to intervene immediately to halt these assaults and hold those responsible accountable.
Despite these calls for action, Israeli airstrikes continued in southern Lebanon. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, recent aerial assaults on Sunday resulted in four fatalities and numerous injuries, including two young girls among the six wounded. Reports from the National News Agency (NNA) indicate that the Israeli military also bombed the Al-Mansouri area in the Tyre district, targeting multiple locations across southern Lebanon.
The Israeli government claims its military operations are responses to drone attacks from Hezbollah. The Israeli Defense Forces assert that they targeted sites connected to Hezbollah’s activities.
This latest escalation comes at a time when a ceasefire mediated by the United States between Israel and Hezbollah is already under strain. With ongoing military activities in southern Lebanon, Beirut fears that the current tensions could spiral into a broader conflict.
