
Hyderabad, July 1: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revant Reddy directed officials on Wednesday to focus on revenue generation to meet the state’s budgetary goals. He emphasized the need to completely prevent revenue losses associated with commercial taxes, excise, mining, and other departments.
Reddy proposed the establishment of a ‘Chasing Cell’ dedicated to revenue collection. During a high-level meeting at MCR HRD, he reviewed the state government’s revenue generation efforts and provided several key directives to officials aimed at increasing revenue.
He specifically highlighted the importance of revenue generation from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC). Reddy made it clear that there should be no negligence in enhancing revenue and fundraising efforts. Departments must improve their capabilities to meet expectations.
He instructed that budget preparation should be department-wise, considering pending projects and other tasks. Land acquisition for projects should be prioritized. The proposed government budget should not be hypothetical but based on reality, and the government is ready to provide necessary support to relevant departments.
In another meeting, Chief Minister Reddy proposed the integration of traffic signals across Hyderabad. He stressed the adoption of technology for effective traffic management to operate signals smoothly. To control traffic flow during rains, he emphasized connecting the system with AI.
Leaders from both companies informed the Chief Minister about the Hyderabad Traffic Pilot Project, explaining how technology can be utilized to address urban challenges promptly. They shared their vision for ‘Next Generation Intelligent Infrastructure’ and ‘Physical Intelligence,’ which are essential for future generations.
They discussed how physical intelligence, sensors, and robotics can help create safe, efficient, and responsive urban transport systems. The meeting also explored the potential for ‘Cognitive Cities’ that can adjust traffic signal systems based on real-time crowd data, detect and repair water leaks, manage electricity supply according to demand, and clear paths for ambulances and fire tenders during emergencies.
Both organizations emphasized the need for new technology to meet the demands of rapidly growing cities, enhancing government efficiency, providing better services to citizens, and facilitating data-driven infrastructure planning.
