Rajkot, August 26: The Rajkot police in Gujarat have apprehended a man from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He is accused of defrauding the complainant and several investors of ₹9.61 crore through a firm named ‘Dwarkadhish Enterprises’ by promising high returns.
According to officials, the suspect, identified as Hardik Tanna, was arrested by a team from the Gandhi Gram-2 (University) police station in the Vijay Nagar area of Indore. Police received information about his whereabouts through technical and confidential sources.
Reports indicate that the alleged fraud began in 2023. Tanna reportedly claimed that Dwarkadhish Enterprises was involved in swiping various debit cards and providing loans in return. He persuaded investors to invest by assuring them of good returns. Initially, to gain their trust, he returned some money as returns.
Once their confidence was secured, he allegedly promised even higher profits and collected further investments in both bank accounts and cash. Police stated that Tanna amassed a total of ₹9,61,91,492 from the complainant and several investors but failed to return any money.
He is accused of causing significant financial losses to investors, misappropriating funds, and fleeing from Rajkot. On August 19, a case was registered at the Gandhi Gram-2 (University) police station under Section 316(5) of the Indian Penal Code, 2023, and Section 3 of the Gujarat Protection of Interests of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act, 2003.
Following the registration of the case, Police Inspector K.K. Gohil directed Sub-Inspector R.R. Kothia and his team to locate the accused. Upon receiving information that Tanna was in Indore, a team was dispatched to the city, leading to his arrest in the Vijay Nagar area.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime. He was brought back to the police station, and further legal action was initiated. The police stated, “This operation was conducted under the direction of Rajkot City Police Commissioner Brajesh Kumar Jha and Additional Police Commissioner Chaitanya Mandlik, with oversight from other senior officials.”
