Tamil Nadu CM to Campaign for TVK Candidate in Dharapuram Ahead of By-Election

Dharapuram, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is set to campaign for the Tamilaga Vetri Katchi (TVK) candidate, Sathybama, in Dharapuram on Wednesday. This event comes just six days before the assembly by-election scheduled for October 6.

Sathybama previously won this seat as a candidate for AIADMK but resigned from the assembly and joined TVK, prompting the upcoming election. A total of 22 candidates are competing, with major parties ramping up their campaigning efforts.

Organizers have prepared a 54-acre ground at Maruti Nagar in Kondarasampalayam along the Dharapuram-Udumalpettai road for CM Vijay’s rally. A bus has been set up near the venue to serve as a stage for his speech. Arrangements have also been made for ministers and senior party officials, with designated sections for volunteers and the public.

Over ten large LED screens will be installed throughout the venue to broadcast the event. Organizers plan to issue QR-coded entry passes for approximately 10,000 attendees.

On Wednesday afternoon, CM Vijay will depart from Chennai via private aircraft, arriving at Coimbatore Airport around 1 PM. He will then travel by car to the rally site, expected to reach by 3 PM. After addressing the crowd, he will return to Coimbatore by road and then fly back to Chennai.

Traffic restrictions will be in place in Dharapuram due to the CM’s visit, with heavy vehicles barred from entering the city. Traffic will be diverted, and iron barricades have been erected at key locations.

Ahead of the visit, speed bumps are being removed from approximately 50 spots along the four-lane Dharapuram-Palladam road, including areas near schools, colleges, and rural bus stops.

Security has been heightened around the city and the Maruti Nagar rally site. Over 3,000 police personnel from Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and Erode districts have been deployed under the leadership of Coimbatore West Zone IG Ramya Bharti. Coimbatore DIG Swaminathan inspected the arrangements on Tuesday.

This by-election is garnering significant attention as Sathybama attempts to retain her seat under a new party banner. As the election date approaches, her opponents are also intensifying their campaigning efforts across the constituency.
