T.S. Singh Deo Critiques Raghav Chadhas Political Shift and BJPs Tactics

Raipur, April 26: T.S. Singh Deo, former Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and Congress leader, recently discussed Raghav Chadha’s departure from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the implications of the BJP’s strategies. Here are the key excerpts from the conversation:

Question: On Friday, Raghav Chadha, along with six other MPs, left the Aam Aadmi Party. Chadha stated that the party has strayed from its core principles and that he was silenced. How do you perceive this development?

Answer: This is yet another example of the BJP’s well-known Operation Lotus. It is unfortunate for the country that policies and principles are becoming secondary. The focus has shifted to how we can gain power and benefits, which is increasingly evident. The political character of the nation is deteriorating rapidly, and that is a cause for concern.

Raghav Chadha, who previously labeled the BJP as a gang of goons and openly criticized their policies, has now joined the very party he once opposed. He claims that AAP has deviated from its principles. If that were the case, he should have formed his own party or sought other options. Instead, he has embraced the BJP, showcasing a principle of opportunism. Many others, like Ajit Pawar, who once spoke against PM Modi and Amit Shah, have also shifted allegiances. Despite being implicated in a massive scam, they find themselves in positions of power within the NDA.

Swati Maliwal has remained with AAP despite previously opposing Arvind Kejriwal. What kind of ethics or principles does this reflect? Many individuals who once criticized the BJP are now sitting alongside them, yet they remain silent.

Question: The Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal claim that more AAP legislators may leave the party soon, and that Raghav Chadha is in contact with them. What is your take on this?

Answer: As I mentioned, the BJP is willing to go to great lengths to promote opportunism through financial means and the misuse of constitutional institutions. They have initiated processes that have troubled people across the country, particularly in West Bengal, where they deployed three lakh paramilitary forces to secure election victories. During this process, many names from the Muslim community were removed from the electoral rolls.

It is unfortunate that the Supreme Court merely asks what happened and suggests voting next time. The central government has crossed all limits of cunningness. They have orchestrated the entire game and still talk about fair elections. If they seek power, they should earn the people’s support, regardless of whether it comes from Congress or any other party. Winning through public trust is the only honorable way in a democracy.

Manipulating alliances, offering benefits, exerting pressure, and using agencies like the ED to secure victories is not right. As elections approach, even PDS shops are being targeted by the ED. What is happening here? Nevertheless, I remain optimistic. No matter how much institutions are misused, I believe the people of this country will ultimately prevail.

Question: The Supreme Court reprimanded Mamata Banerjee regarding the I-PAC matter. What are your thoughts on this?

Answer: Regarding the Supreme Court, I believe its statement reflects only one side of the coin. There should also be comments on how agencies are being misused, which the entire world is witnessing. I do not fully agree with that statement. If Mamata Banerjee took any action, it is reasonable to question it. However, when someone is completely suppressed, a reaction is natural. It is essential to identify who is undermining democracy. Serious questions arise regarding the misuse of powers granted to the ED. The ability to arrest anyone at any time and keep them in jail for extended periods, despite low conviction rates, is concerning. The detention of chief ministers, ministers, and industrialists raises doubts about the impartiality of democratic institutions. The Supreme Court should have also focused on this aspect.

Question: Dhirendra Krishna Shastri has stated that Hindus should have four children and dedicate one to the RSS. What is your response to such statements? Do they send a wrong message to society?

Answer: Regarding population growth, the country has already surpassed a population of 1.45 billion. Our per capita income is significantly lower than that of the United States. Therefore, advocating for more children is impractical. Resources within families are limited, and whether there are two or six children directly impacts the quality of life. Thus, making irresponsible statements is inappropriate. Today, there is excessive focus on appearances and publicity, with little substantial response to serious issues. If incorrect comments are made about India on an international level, a strong rebuttal should be provided.

Question: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a boat ride on the Hooghly River in West Bengal, to which Mamata Banerjee responded by challenging him to dive into the Yamuna. Despite major projects like Namami Gange, the opposition questions the ground-level cleanliness of rivers. How do you view this issue?

Answer: Their approach is to make grand statements while glossing over shortcomings. Modi’s boat ride on the Hooghly, with a camera in hand for photos, resembles a film shoot. The Prime Minister and his team seem more focused on publicity. Meanwhile, the U.S. President has referred to India as a hellhole, while Modi is busy taking pictures. There has been no response to that. The Prime Minister should have demanded an apology from Trump on behalf of our motherland.

We witness incidents where our citizens are handcuffed, facing various international pressures regarding taxes, trade, and oil. However, there is no strong response from the government. Even incidents like attacks on ships from Iran go unanswered, which is concerning.
